Giant Duckweed

Spirodela polyrhiza

General information: The original parent stock plant cultured at Aquagreen was collected from the Howard River where it occurs in the very shady areas generally caught among the other aquatic plants. It is many times larger than the normal Lemna duck weeds.

Cultivation notes : It does very well in the Howard River where the water conditions were on 25 Sept 2005, pH 7.5, Temp 31 Deg C, alkalinity 150 ppm, general hardness 140 ppm. The Howard River has excellent aquatic plant growth all year round and these water conditions are worthy of duplication if possible.

Distribution : Found throughout most of the warmer parts of the world. In Australia it is found in the NT, Qld and NSW.

Selling details : Sold in lots of 25 grams, which is about the same weight as a normal bunch of aquarium plants.
